Week 2 …
Last weeks blog was finished before the Super Bowl … that night Meg & Tom, their friend Chris and I had a fun night at Ed’s Tavern. I don’t need to tell you it was a great game but oddly enough, ½ the bar cleared out as soon as the half time show was over. (I personally think Mary J could have carried the whole show on her own very well.)
On Valentine’s Day I checked out of the Dilworth Vrbo and worked from “home” at Meg & Tom’s before heading to Denver. I arrived in time to make a steak for dinner that turned a average evening to very eventful. After my steak was in the broiler for about 20 minutes the oven started beeping and flashing “F10”
and.
it.
would.
not.
STOP!
I eventually had to pull the oven away from the wall (that was interesting), unplug it and plug it back in. Don’t worry … no injuries and the steak was delicious!
The rest of the week I didn’t need a kitchen anyway … I was out to dinner or at Deanna’s, Danielle’s, or Michelle’s every night. This week I checked the box for ‘visit DQ and The Manna Sisters’. I’ve eaten well this week! Boss Hogs BBQ, Chill Fire Grill and 131 Main … I actually had the ribs at all three… Boss Hogs wins for the best of them…next week I may need to fast!
It wasn’t all eating though … it was great spending time catching up and chatting with the girls. Sunday Deanna and I did the short loop hike at Lake Norman State Park before I went to dinner with Danielle and Michelle. We didn’t need dessert at the restaurant though, we had really ooey gooey chocolate chips cookies made by Danielle’s daughter Brooke...yum! We almost ate them all … almost. The night ended with a FaceTime call with my mom. Danielle and Michelle asked her to sing for them… and when has Pat Bell ever said no to a request?!?! By the time she was done singing our song (You and me against the world) there wasn’t a dry eye in the room
Happy President’s Day!
Love, Gray
