On The Road Again

My second full week home was pretty much a Yankee binge! After going to Opening Day and again to the game on Saturday I took Sunday to relax before making going to the Yankee Game part of my every day for the rest of the week. Monday night was with my Goddaughter Katie. We had a great time! Then I stayed at her house in Brooklyn. Tuesday morning was a scary day for New Yorkers with the subway shooting in Brooklyn. I was glued to the news all morning and as I was driving back to The Bronx that afternoon to check into the hotel I was listening to my normal afternoon sports radio. They were talking about the four sporting events in the city that evening and whether or not they would go considering the shooter was not yet caught. Many people were calling in saying they were still going or they would drive / Uber rather than take public transportation. I had already planned to drive so I wasn’t changing that plan but it did give me pause. He was caught a day later thanks to New Yorks Finest! The NYPD ROCKS!!!

The next three nights different friends/family (Eileen, Kellie, Nora) met me at The Stadium for a game. During my homestand my record was 4-2. Pretty good … two games over 500. I was at the hotel in The Bronx four days working from “home”. Every day I went out for a walk in the afternoon. Being so close to The Stadium I walked around it. I learned fans start gathering really early around he players entrance…not something I would do.

The weekend was packed with getting stuff done before the next leg of my trip. But Easter Sunday was definitely a day of rest at my moms before making my last stop in PA. It was a pandemic Easter however, we ate in the garage across from each other. My mom is very inventive with how she set it up – I was happy to spend the afternoon with them because I didn’t spend the time I had expected to be with her while home.

And now … I’m back on the road! I am back in Tennessee. This time I decided to break up the drive over two days. It worked out well. I estimated around where I would stop and then waited until I was really into it before I decided to find a place to stay. I left on Tuesday from PA and after driving four & a half hours I had my first pit stop. I looked up hotels on the Bonvoy app near Roanoke, VA and mapped them out to see how much longer I would have to drive. I decided on a Fairfield Inn in Roanoke. I arrived, went to sleep and drove the rest of the way to Pigeon Forge on Wednesday.
