This week I moved to an AirBnB on the other side of Lake Norman in Mooresville. I was about 3 minutes from Deanna’s house. It was a first floor apartment of a private house on the lake with a nice porch. The weather didn’t exactly comply though. I was only able to sit outside once when the sun came out and the temperature finally rose… for a day. That’s it.
I was out almost every night this week… which caused Deanna to question whether I’m really an introvert. I assured her that I am, but she’s no longer buying it. We had a great dinner with her mom and Cynthia at Caruso’s … I actually tried something new. Yes, I really did. They didn’t have veal parmigiana … but one of the specials was pork chop parm – it was delicious! Then on Friday I had a great BBQ dinner ... at Boss Hog BBQ - I had Hushpups for the first time! They were pretty.
The week ended with breakfast and afternoon out with friends. I had a nice lunch with Marie, we hadn’t seen each other since our days at Chubb back in 2013. That afternoon, my last night in NC, Deanna and I drove into Charlotte. We met up with Meg & Tom, Deanna’s friend Carrie, and Meg’s friend Chris. We went to Pins Mechanical Co – a brewery / arcade with Duckpins. I spent a little too much time playing Ms Pac-Man & Skee Ball. Deanna was super focused on Galaxian. That was before a game of Duck Pin… Deanna won. We finished the night at The Comet Grill … which is funny because that was where Meg, Tom and I went the day I arrived.
I started my rainy Sunday at mass at St Therese in Mooresville before driving to Chattanooga. The drive was about six hours with one stop for gas and a quick bite to eat. I spent most of the drive on the phone catching up with friends and family.
So now that I've left NC I realized my three + weeks there weren’t a really good indicator for this journey. I have some really wonderful friends in NC and we had such great times together. There will be times on this journey I will be places where
I will visit with old friends … but there’s not another place where I’ll have so many in one place. Especially my sisters.
